According to the January 1981
issue of National Geographic
Magazine (p. 69), ". . . the skeletons are by
far the most complete remains of these
creatures ever unearthed. Rarely found parts
such as toungue bones, cartilages, tendons,
and bones in the middle ear all survive in
exquisite detail." The remains of one female
even includes a fossilized fetus. The National Geographic article features two paintings. . . one of the ash cloud approachng the savanna, and the other showing what it may have looked like as the animals gathered at the waterhole to die.
